Master in Counselling - School of Educational Studies
This programme is counselling programme for counselling teachers, private and public college lectures in counselling and psychology, and for people experienced in the field of counselling and psychology, especially those who are involved in the guidance activities and helping processes. These programmes include a holistic and wide range of counselling areas pertaining to our counselling system, administration, curriculum and other related counselling issues. Candidates will be also given the opportunity to specialize in four counselling areas of their choice.

Internship
Student required to carry out individual and group counselling session at the respective centre (placement). Student will have to practiced in order to mastered skills and techniques in counselling. Student can manage counselling case. Student also be trained to keeps a log, make a case notes and undertake activities needed by trained counsellor. At the same time, the objective of this course also to expose student to various kinds of client which brought various types of problem / issues. Student will apply the skill has been learned. This course also emphasised on the skill of using and interpretation of psychological testing to client.
Project
This course aims to enable candidates to apply various research methods using statistical Plausible Reasoning skills to undertake research in the field of counselling. This course emphasizes the understanding and evaluation of counselling in the form of research. Aspects of interpretation of research findings to be emphasized through the improvement of skill and counselling technique.

Applicants should possess the following:
A. Bachelor's degree in related field
1. CGPA of at least 2.75 / 4.00; or
2. CGPA between 2.50 - 2.74 with the following additional conditions: or
a) Research experience for at least one year; or
b) Work experience in related field for at least one year; or
c) At least one (1) academic publication in the relevant field; or
d) Grade B for major / elective courses; or
e) Grade B+ for final year project
3. CGPA between 2.00 - 2.49 (Bachelor's Degree with Honours) with the following additional conditions: or
a) Research experience for at least five (5) years; or
b) Work experience in related field for at least five (5) years; AND
c) At least one (1) academic publication in the relevant field; or
d) Grade B for major / elective courses; or
e) Grade B+ for final year project
B. Experienced in the field of psychology and counselling, especially those who are involved in the guidance activities and helping processes.
* Applicants will be interviewed before acceptance.

- A minimum score of 40 for TOEFL (Internet-based); or
- A minimum of Band 7.5 for TOEFL Essentials (Online); or
- A minimum of Band 5 for IELTS; or
- A minimum score of 47 for PTE; or
- A minimum score of 154 for Cambridge English (CAE/CPE); or
- A minimum score of 154 for Linguaskill Online; or
- A minimum of Band 107 for CIEP Level (ELS); or
- A minimum of Band 3.5 for MUET
Exemption can be given if:
- English is the candidate's mother tongue or National Language; or
- The candidate graduated from an Institution of Higher Learning in which the medium of instruction is English
IMPORTANT: Candidates are required to provide any of the above English result upon application. Incomplete application will be rejected.
