  • OVERVIEW

    The Applied Statistics programme in the School of Mathematical Sciences, Universiti Sains Malaysia, is to produce competent Statisticians who are able to conduct research and development in industries as well as in the service sector. In this program, students are given training that focuses on the application of statistics in areas such as management, medicine, finance and data analysis. Computer skills in analyzing data (for example: financial, industrial and medical data) and making appropriate decisions and conclusions in solving problems are also given emphasis.\

    Lectures will be mainly delivered in English

    • MINIMUM GENERAL REQUIREMENTSHIGH SCHOOL CERTIFICATES DIPLOMA / A-LEVEL, IB, AUSMAT,SAM & OTHERS
      MINIMUM GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:

      ACADEMIC

      • Completed 12 years of Primary and High School Education and
      • Obtained High School Certificate (eg. A‐Level, HSC, SMU, & Matayom Suksa 6 (Thailand), International Baccalaureate ) or
      • Diploma in related field

      ENGLISH

        • IELTS/ IELTS Online minimum Band 5.0
        • TOEFL iBT minimum score of 40
        • TOEFL Essentials Online minimum score of 7.5
        • Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE) minimum score of 154 or
        • Cambridge English: Proficiency (CPE) minimum score of 154 or
        • Cambridge English: Linguaskill Online minimum score of 154 or
        • PTE Academic / PTE Academic(Online) minimum score of 47 or
        • ELS Certified Intensive English Programme Level (CIEP Level) 107 or
        • Malaysian University English Test minimum Band 3.5 or
        • Candidate from an institution in which the medium of instruction is English

        Without any of the above English proficiency certificates, accepted students will receive a conditional offer letter requiring them to meet the English language requirements.

        INTERVIEW

        Candidates must undergo an interview session before being accepted by the respective faculty
          HIGH SCHOOL CERTIFICATES :

          Obtained High School Certificate Level or its equivalent with minimum entry qualification of CGPA 3.00

          And

          Minimum grade B in subjects below:

          • Mathematics
          • Biology / Chemistry / Physics / ICT / History / Geography / Economics / Business Studies / Accounting

          Note: Grading system is referred to each country academics qualifications
          DIPLOMA / A-LEVEL, IB, AUSMAT,SAM & OTHERS:

          Obtained Diploma in related fields with minimum CGPA of 3.00

          And

          Obtained minimum grade B in Mathematics       at Diploma level

          And

          Provided the course is not less than 5 semesters or 2 ½ years in the same accredited institution.

          And

          Obtained High School Certificate Level or its equivalent with minimum entry qualification of CGPA 3.00 and minimum grade B in:

          • Mathematics
          • Biology / Chemistry / Physics / ICT / History / Geography / Economics / Business Studies / Accounting
