Mechanical Engineering is a profession involving design, management, production, maintenance and infrastructure development to fulfill the needs of modern living. A mechanical engineer involves with product or systems that function efficiently, reliable and economically using the limited resources effectively. Mechanical engineer also involves in industries such as power plant, heavy machinery, electronics, construction, product development, medical equipment, food processing and automotive. Hence, mechanical engineers are important in the infrastructure development and wealth creation.
The Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering programme at USM is designed to prepare the student to fulfill the needs in engineering as a career in a wide spectrum of field in Mechanical Engineering. The program emphasises design and solving complex engineering problem. The students are also exposed to the non-technical subjects such as management, accounting and communication skills that needed for engineers.
