Master of Science in Nano-Optoelectronics - Institute of Nano Optoelectronics Research & Technology


  • OVERVIEW

    The programme aims to:

    1. Develop and train human capital with expertise and skills especially in the field of Nano Optoelectronics.
    2.  Increase the standards of research, education, and training in the field of Nano Optoelectronics, which would give high impacts to the society.
    3.  Generate experts capable to contribute to the knowledge acquisition and new technology in the field of Nano Optoelectronics at International level.

    Course Structure

    The programme comprises 40 units of the following four core courses and two elective courses.

    Semester I

    • Physics and Technology of Nanomaterials (core - 4 units)
    • Growth and Fabrication of Optoelectronic Devices (core - 4 units)
    • Advanced Growth Technology (elective - 4 units)
    • Advanced Optoelectronics (elective - 4 units)
    • Dissertation I (core - 8 units)

    Semester II

    • Advanced Growth Technology (elective - 4 units)
    • Advanced Optoelectronics (elective - 4 units)
    • Dissertation II (core - 20 units)
  • ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

    Applicants should possess the following:

    A. Bachelor's degree in related area

    1. CGPA of at least 2.75 / 4.00; or

    2. CGPA between 2.50 - 2.74 with the following additional conditions: or

    a) Research experience for at least one year; or
    b) Work experience in related field for at least one year; or
    c) At least one (1) academic publication in the relevant field; or
    d) Grade B for major / elective courses; or
    e) Grade B+ for final year project

    3. CGPA between 2.00 - 2.49 (Bachelor's Degree with Honours) with the following additional conditions: or

    a) Research experience for at least five (5) years; or
    b) Work experience in related field for at least five (5) years; AND
    c) At least one (1) academic publication in the relevant field; or
    d) Grade B for major / elective courses; or
    e) Grade B+ for final year project

  • DURATION

    • Full Time: Min 2 semesters / Max 4 semesters
    • Part Time: Min 3 semesters / Max 6 semesters
