Master of Science (Reconstructive Science)

  • OVERVIEW

Master of Science (Reconstructive Science) by Research Mode is an advanced graduate program designed for students interested in research related to reconstructive sciences. This program focuses on the scientific aspects of reconstructive surgery, tissue engineering, and regenerative medicine. It emphasizes developing an understanding of how various medical and technological approaches can be used to restore, reconstruct, or replace damaged tissues and organs, which is essential in fields like plastic surgery, orthopedics, and regenerative medicine.

The program allows students to explore a range of research topics in reconstructive science, such as:

    • Tissue Engineering: Researching the development of artificial tissues and organs for use in reconstructive surgery. This includes growing cells, tissues, and organs in the lab to restore damaged structures.
    • Stem Cell Research: Investigating the potential of stem cells to regenerate damaged tissues and organs, particularly in the context of skin, bone, cartilage, and nerve regeneration.
    • Regenerative Medicine: Exploring the use of biological systems and techniques to restore or replace tissues and organs, including the use of growth factors, gene therapy, and bioengineering approaches.
    • Burn and Trauma Reconstruction: Studying advanced techniques for reconstructing tissues and organs damaged by burns or traumatic injuries, including skin grafting and the use of biomaterials.
    • Bone and Cartilage Regeneration: Researching methods for regenerating bone and cartilage, particularly for orthopedic applications, including joint reconstruction and bone grafting techniques.
    • Wound Healing: Investigating biological processes involved in wound healing and developing techniques to enhance or accelerate tissue repair and regeneration.
    • Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery: Focusing on improving surgical techniques and biomaterials for the reconstruction of facial, cranial, and other body parts damaged due to congenital issues, trauma, or disease.
    • Biomaterials: Research on synthetic and natural materials used for tissue replacement and reconstruction, such as scaffolds for tissue regeneration or implants for reconstructive surgery.
    • 3D Bioprinting: Exploring the use of 3D printing technologies for fabricating tissues, organs, or prosthetics for reconstructive purposes.
