  • OVERVIEW

    The Master in Dental Science (MDSc) at Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) is a one-year postgraduate program clinical coursework designed to equip dental professionals with specialised expertise in Endodontology, Orthodontics, Prosthodontics, and Periodontology. This program addresses the increasing demand for skilled dental specialists in Malaysia and internationally, preparing graduates to excel in various healthcare settings. 

    Programme structure:  

    The MDSc program is structured over two semesters, covering both research and clinical training.

  • ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

    An applicant for admission to the 1-year Master in Dental Science program will have the following requirements:-

    1. Bachelor of Dental Surgery or equivalent qualification;
    2. Registered with the Malaysian Dental Council (MDC) and holds current Annual Practising Certificate (APC);
    3. A minimum of two (2) years clinical practice after basic degree;
    4. Have a good health and free from serious communicable diseases; and
    5. Candidates are required to sit for an online Those who pass the test will be called for an interview. 

    * USM has a right to withdraw the offer letter if you are not medically fit.

    *Candidates must upload the APC (Annual Practising Certificate) document in the application system.

  • LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS

    English requirement (for international candidate only):

    • A minimum score of 40 for TOEFL (Internet-based); or
    • A minimum of Band 7.5 for TOEFL Essentials (Online); or 
    • A minimum of Band 5 for IELTS; or 
    • A minimum score of 47 for PTE; or 
    • A minimum score of 154 for Cambridge English (CAE/CPE); or A minimum score of 154 for Lingual skill Online; or 
    • A minimum of Band 5 for MUET 

    Exemption can be considered to candidate if: 

    • English is the candidate’s mother tongue or National Language; or 
    • Candidate graduated from an Institution of Higher Learning in which the medium of instruction at Bachelor and/or Master degree level is English (statement of proof required)
  • DURATION

    Full-time:
    Minimum: 2 semester (1 year)
    Maximum: 4 semester (2 years)
