OVERVIEW
The Architecture Programme in the School of Housing, Building & Planning, Universiti Sains Malaysia is unique among courses offering LAM Part 1 accreditation. With a broad-based interdisciplinary approach exposed to the students, it aims to produce architecture graduates who are knowledgeable, skillful and responsive to the needs of the built environment and its inhabitants. In addition to training architecture students to be competent in designing process and related skills vital for a professional architect, it also provides opportunities for students to plan and design various projects that touch on contemporary issues such as sustainability, special technologies, conservation, socio-culture and other areas of special interests.

REQUIREMENTS

STPM KPM MATRICULATION / FOUNDATION STUDIES (UM/UKM/UiTM) DIPLOMA / EQUIVALENT – A-LEVEL, IB, AUSMAT, SAM, AND OTHERS STPM:i. Pass the Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) Examination with a minimum CGPA of 3.00.
AND
ii. Obtain at least Grade B (NGMP 3.00) in any two (2) of the following subjects:- Geography
- History
- Economics
- Visual Arts
- Business Studies
- Accounting
- Physics
- Chemistry
- Biology
- Mathematics M / Mathematics T
AND
iii. Pass the drawing test and excel in the interview assessment.
KPM MATRICULATION / FOUNDATION STUDIES (UM/UKM/UiTM):i. Pass the KPM Matriculation / UM Foundation / UKM Foundation / UiTM Foundation with a minimum CGPA of 3.00.
AND
ii. Obtain at least Grade B (3.00) in any two (2) of the following subjects:- Chemistry / Engineering Chemistry

DIPLOMA / EQUIVALENT – A-LEVEL, IB, AUSMAT, SAM, AND OTHERS:Possess a Diploma in a relevant field with a minimum CGPA of 3.00
(Priority will be given to diploma graduates from Malaysian Polytechnics or institutions under the supervision of the Ministry of Higher Education (KPT) or equivalent.)
OR
Pass A-Level with a minimum score of 10 and obtain at least Grade B in any two (2) of the following subjects:- Mathematics

LIST OF COURSE

Architecture course exposes the students to the basic elements and principles used in designing works. The students will also be guided to understand the critical processes of the formation of an idea, concept, design, material selection, choice of construction methods, and the application of technology to the design.

Architecture course emphasizes on basic elements and principles used in building and environmental designs incorporating expression of architectural concept based on design and planning principles, physical structures, energy efficient technologies and services, internal and external circulations, and ecological and sustainable design.

Architecture course will guide the students to acquire a sound understanding of the processes, elements and principles involved in the rural and urban design context. Students will handle projects involving a comprehensive planning and design of a building which focuses on the integration of structure, building services, technology, materials and construction in an urban and rural areas.
