  • OVERVIEW

    Geophysics is dedicated to studying the structure and motion of the Earth. Major thrusts in the programme include atmospheric science, environmental geophysics, Oceanography, rocks and minerals such as petroleum and natural gas. It involves the application of physical laws and principles to the study of the Earth and other astronomical bodies. Geophysical studies use physical measurements and mathematical models to explore and analyze the structure and dynamics of the Solid Earth and its liquid content.

  • REQUIREMENTS

    • STPMKPM MATRICULATION / FOUNDATION STUDIES (UM/UKM/UiTM)DIPLOMA / EQUIVALENT – A-LEVEL, IB, AUSMAT, SAM, AND OTHERS
      STPM:

      i. Pass the Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) Examination with a minimum CGPA of 2.75.

      AND

      ii. Obtain at least Grade B (NGMP 3.00) in the following subjects:
      • Physics
      • Mathematics T

      AND

      iii. Obtain at least Grade C at the SPM level in the following subjects:
      • Physics
      • Additional Mathematics
      KPM MATRICULATION / FOUNDATION STUDIES (UM/UKM/UiTM):

      i. Pass Matriculation / Foundation Studies (UM/UKM/UiTM) with a minimum CGPA of 2.75

      AND

      ii. Obtain at least a Grade B (3.00) in the following subjects:
      • Physics / Engineering Physics
      • Mathematics
      • Biology / Chemistry / Computer Science / Programming / Computing / Engineering Chemistry / Basic Engineering / Civil Engineering / Mechanical Engineering / Electrical & Electronics Engineering

      AND

      iii. Obtain at least a Grade C at the SPM level in the following subjects:
      • Physics
      • Additional Mathematics
      DIPLOMA / EQUIVALENT – A-LEVEL, IB, AUSMAT, SAM, AND OTHERS:
      Possess a Diploma in the related field with a minimum CGPA of 2.75

      OR

      Pass A-Level with a minimum score of 10 and obtain at least Grade B in the following subjects:

      • Physics
      • Mathematics

      OR

      Pass the International Baccalaureate (IB) with a minimum score of 28 and obtain at least a score of 5 at the High Level (HL) in the following subjects:

      • Physics
      • Mathematics

      AND

      Obtain at least a score of 5 at the Standard Level (SL) in Further Mathematics

      OR

      Pass AUSMAT/SAM with a minimum aggregate of 68 and obtain at least Grade B in the following subjects:

      • Physics
      • Mathematics Studies

      OR

      Possess other qualifications recognized as its equivalent and approved by the University Senate.

      AND

      Obtain at least Grade C at the SPM level in the following subjects:

      • Physics
      • Additional Mathematics, or have attended and passed an equivalent Mathematics course at diploma level.
