  • OVERVIEW

    The Bachelor of Applied Science in Mathematics and Economics is a unique double major programme offered by the School of Mathematical Sciences, Universiti Sains Malaysia. This interdisciplinary programme prepares the students to think across boundaries of Mathematics and train them to be able to compete in a real-world situation. Students are given training in combining and relating Mathematics and Statistics to the field of Economics. Computer skills in analyzing economic and financial data and skills in making informed decisions are also developed to a high level of sophistication.

  • REQUIREMENTS

    • STPMKPM MATRICULATION / FOUNDATION STUDIES (UM/UKM/UiTM)DIPLOMA / EQUIVALENT – A-LEVEL, IB, AUSMAT, SAM, AND OTHERS
      STPM:

      i. Pass the Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) Examination with a minimum CGPA of 3.00.

      AND

      ii. Obtain at least Grade B (NGMP 3.00) in the following subjects:
      • Mathematics T / Mathematics M
      • Physics / Chemistry / Biology / Information and Communication Technology (ICT) / Bahasa Melayu / History / Geography / Economics / Communicative Malay Literature / Business Studies / Accounting
      KPM MATRICULATION / FOUNDATION STUDIES (UM/UKM/UiTM):

      i. Pass Matriculation / Foundation Studies (UM/UKM/UiTM) with a minimum CGPA of 3.00

      AND

      ii. Obtain at least a Grade B (3.00) in the following subjects:
      • Mathematics
      • Physics / Biology / Chemistry / Business Management / Economics / Accounting / Financial Accounting / Management Accounting / Business and Technology
      DIPLOMA / EQUIVALENT – A-LEVEL, IB, AUSMAT, SAM, AND OTHERS:

      Possess a Diploma in the related field with a minimum CGPA of 3.00.

      AND

      Obtain at least Grade B (GPA 3.00) at the DIPLOMA level in Mathematics.

      OR

      Pass the A-Level / IB / AUSMAT examination with a minimum CGPA of 3.00 or its equivalent;

      AND

      Obtain at least Grade B (3.00) or its equivalent at the A-Level / IB / AUSMAT level in any two (2) of the following subjects:

      • Mathematics
      • Physics / Chemistry / Biology

      OR

      Possess other qualifications recognised as equivalent and approved by the University Senate.
