OVERVIEW
The programme, better known as BA EFP amongst USM community, emphasises the fundamentals and practical aspects of written and spoken competence, linguistics and applied linguistics, and critical and creative thinking commonly observed in professional environments. The courses aim to develop students’ understanding of the relationship between the modes of written and spoken communication with audience and professional communities.

REQUIREMENTS

STPM KPM MATRICULATION / FOUNDATION STUDIES (UM/UKM/UiTM) DIPLOMA / EQUIVALENT – A-LEVEL, IB, AUSMAT, SAM, AND OTHERS STPM:i. Pass the Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) Examination with a minimum CGPA of 2.50.
AND
ii. Obtain at least Grade B- (NGMP 2.67) in any two (2) subjects.
AND
iii. Obtain at least Grade B+ in English Language at SPM level.
AND
iv. Obtain at least Band 4.0 in MUET or an equivalent qualification.
KPM MATRICULATION / FOUNDATION STUDIES (UM/UKM/UiTM):i. Pass the KPM Matriculation / UM Foundation / UKM Foundation / UiTM Foundation with a minimum CGPA of 2.50.
AND
ii. Obtain at least Grade B- (2.67) in any two (2) subjects.
OR
ii. Obtain at least Grade B- (2.67) in three (3) subjects from the UiTM Foundation in TESL programme.
OR
ii. Obtain at least Grade B- (2.67) in three (3) specialization subjects from the UM Foundation in Social Sciences programme.
AND
iii. Obtain at least Grade B+ in the English Language subject at the SPM level.
AND
iv. Obtain at least Band 4.0 in MUET or an equivalent qualification.
DIPLOMA / EQUIVALENT – A-LEVEL, IB, AUSMAT, SAM, AND OTHERS:Possess a Diploma in a related field with a minimum CGPA of 2.75
OR
Pass A-Level with a minimum score of 9 and obtain at least a Grade C in any two (2) subjects.
OR
Pass the International Baccalaureate (IB) with a minimum score of 26 and obtain at least a score of 4 in any combination of two (2) subjects at the High Level (HL) and one (1) subject at the Standard Level (SL).
OR
Pass AUSMAT/SAM with a minimum aggregate of 68 and obtain at least a Grade C in any two (2) subjects.
OR
Hold other qualifications recognized as equivalent and endorsed by the University Senate.
AND
Obtain at least a Grade B+ in English at the SPM level.
AND
Obtain at least Band 4.0 in MUET or an equivalent qualification.
