OVERVIEW
Synopsis:
Translation and interpretation courses provide knowledge about translation and interpretation theories, along with practical training in these fields. Students are introduced to translation/interpretation methods; processes such as editing, computer-assisted translation, interpreting, subtitling, localization, and more; cultural elements in language; and professional ethics in this domain.Course Objectives:
The objective of this program is to produce graduates who not only understand translation and interpretation theories but also can apply the methods learned in translation and interpretation tasks. Graduates will be able to understand various types of interpretation (e.g., consecutive, simultaneous), and be proficient in Malay, English (and other languages), and capable of translating and interpreting in these languages. The program also aims to produce graduates who can work in various industries and organizations both locally and internationally, contributing to the country as intermediaries in language, culture, politics, and social matters. Additionally, graduates are expected to be professional in handling translation and interpretation tasks.Graduation Requirement :
1. Foundation (including Humanitise Module and Major) : 74 Units
2. Open Elective Courses : 20 Units
3. Electives : 10 Units
4. University Course : 16 -22 Units

STPM KPM MATRICULATION / FOUNDATION STUDIES (UM/UKM/UiTM) DIPLOMA / EQUIVALENT – A-LEVEL, IB, AUSMAT, SAM, AND OTHERS STPM:i. Passed Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) examination with a minimum CGPA of 2.67
AND
ii. Obtain at least a Grade B- (NGMP 2.67) in the following subjects:
- General Studies
- Any two (2) of the following subjects:
- Malay Language
- Geography
- History
- Economics
- Communicative Malay Literature
- Literature in English
- Biology
- Physics
- Chemistry
- Mathematics M / Mathematics T
AND
iii. Obtain at least a Grade B+ in Bahasa Melayu (Malay Language) and a Grade B in English /English Literature at the SPM level.
AND
iv. Obtain at least Band 4.0 in MUET or its equivalent.
KPM MATRICULATION / FOUNDATION STUDIES (UM/UKM/UiTM):i. Pass the MOE Matriculation /Foundation Studies (UM/UKM/UiTM) with a minimum CGPA of 2.67
AND
ii. Obtain at least Grade B- (2.67) in any two (2) of the following subjects:
- Accounting
- Financial Accounting
- Management Accounting
- Business Management
- Business and Technology
- Economics
- Mathematics
- Biology
- Physics
- Chemistry
OR
iii. Obtain at least Grade B- (2.67) in three (3) subjects at the UiTM TESL Foundation level.
OR
iv. Obtain at least Grade B- (2.67) in three (3) specialization subjects at the UiTM Law Foundation level.
OR
v. Obtain at least Grade B- (2.67) in three (3) core specialization subjects at the UM Social Science Foundation level.
AND
vi. Obtain at least Grade B+ in Bahasa Melayu and Grade B in English / English Literature at the SPM level
AND
vii. Obtain at least MUET Band 4.0 or its equivalent.
DIPLOMA / EQUIVALENT – A-LEVEL, IB, AUSMAT, SAM, AND OTHERS:Possess a Diploma in a related field with a minimum CGPA of 2.67
OR
Pass A-Levels with a minimum score of 9 and obtain at least a Grade C in the following subjects:
- Literature in English
- Economics
- Sociology / Psychology
OR
Pass the International Baccalaureate (IB) with a minimum score of 26 and obtain at least a score of 6 at the High Level (HL) in the following subjects:
- Language A1
- History
AND
Obtain at least a score of 5 at the Standard Level (SL) in one (1) other subject.
OR
Pass AUSMAT/SAM with a minimum aggregate of 68 and obtain at least a Grade B in the following subjects:
- English as a Second Language Studies
- English Studies
- Economics
OR
Possess other qualifications recognised as its equivalent and approved by the University Senate.
AND
Obtain at least a Grade B+ in Bahasa Melayu and a Grade B in English / English Literature at the SPM level.
AND
Obtain at least MUET Band 4.0 or its equivalent.
