OVERVIEW
The only programme in Malaysia that offers specialization in mining and/or quarrying and processing of metallic and non-metallic minerals through conventional and advanced technologies. This programme also includes simulation and modelling approaches, especially for mining and plant design as well as comminution and sizing related circuit design.

STPM KPM Matriculation / Foundation Studies (UM/UKM/UiTM) Diploma / Equivalent – A-Level, IB, AUSMAT, SAM, and others STPM:i. Pass the Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) Examination with a minimum CGPA 2.50.ANDii. Obtain at least Grade C+ (NGMP 2.33) in Mathematics T and any two (2) of the following subjects:• Physics• Biology• ChemistryKPM Matriculation / Foundation Studies (UM/UKM/UiTM):i. Pass the KPM Matriculation / Foundation Studies (UM/UKM/UiTM) with a minimum CGPA of 2.50ANDii. Obtain at least a Grade C+ (2.33) in Mathematics and any two (2) of the following subjects:• Physics / Engineering Physics• Chemistry / Engineering Chemistry• Biology• Basic Engineering / Civil Engineering / Mechanical Engineering / Electrical & Electronics EngineeringDiploma / Equivalent – A-Level, IB, AUSMAT, SAM, and others:Hold a Diploma in a related field with a minimum CGPA of 3.00ANDObtain at least Grade C at the SPM level in the following subjects:• Mathematics• Physics / Chemistry / Biology / ScienceORPass A-Level with a minimum score of 10 and obtain at least Grade B in the following subject:• Mathematics / Further MathematicsANDObtain at least Grade C in any two (2) of the following subjects:• Physics• Chemistry• BiologyORPass the International Baccalaureate (IB) with a minimum score of 28 and obtain at least a score of 4 at the Higher Level (HL) in any two (2) of the following subjects:• Physics• Chemistry• Biology• Mathematics• Design TechnologyANDObtain at least a score of 4 at the Standard Level (SL) in one (1) of the following subjects:• Physics• Chemistry• Biology• Mathematics• Design Technology• Mathematical Studies• Mathematical Methods• Further MathematicsORPass AUSMAT/SAM with a minimum aggregate of 68 and obtain at least Grade C in any three (3) of the following subjects:• Mathematical Studies• Physics• Chemistry• Biology• Specialist MathematicsORHold other qualifications recognized as equivalent and endorsed by the University Senate.
