0014 - ADVANCED DIPLOMA IN RENAL NURSING

  • OVERVIEW

    The Advanced Diploma Program in Renal Nursing aims to produce registered nurses who are competent, safe in nursing practice, ethical, and professional to meet the nation's demand for skilled personnel in renal nursing.

    This full-time program is conducted at the Health Campus of Universiti Sains Malaysia, Kubang Kerian, Kelantan. Teaching and learning activities include lectures, practical training, hands-on practice, e-learning, research projects, and professional visits to various relevant sites.

    Students will also be exposed to structured methods for writing reports, case studies, reviews, and research findings. They will undergo 24 weeks of practical training at Hospital USM, selected hemodialysis treatment centers within and outside Kelantan, or abroad. Additionally, students will participate in professional visits as required by the program.

  • REQUIREMENTS

    • Pass the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) or an equivalent qualification with a credit in Bahasa Melayu / Bahasa Malaysia or a credit in Bahasa Melayu / Bahasa Malaysia (July Paper) and a pass in History; AND

    • For Malaysian Citizens:

      • Possess a Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from a recognized institution.
      • Registered with the Malaysian Nursing Board.
      • Hold a valid Annual Practicing Certificate (APC) for nurses.
      • Have a minimum of two (2) years of clinical work experience.

      For International Candidates:

      • Possess a Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from a recognized institution.
      • Registered with the Nursing Board/Authority in the candidate’s home country.
      • Hold a valid Temporary Practicing Certificate (TPC) from the Malaysian Nursing Board (LJM) before clinical placement.
      • Have a minimum of two (2) years of clinical work experience.
      • Have a minimum of three (3) months of clinical work experience in a related field (e.g., hemodialysis, CAPD, kidney transplantation, etc.).
      • Achieve a minimum score of 5.5 in IELTS or a minimum score of 515 (PBT) / 215 (CBT) / 80 (iBT) in TOEFL.

      Note:

      Candidates must meet the following health requirements:
      • All candidates must be certified as medically fit by a Registered Medical Officer within one (1) month before enrolling in the nursing program.
      • Candidates are not eligible to enroll if they have any of the following health conditions:
        • HIV/AIDS
        • Hepatitis B
        • Hepatitis C
        • Mental health disorders
        • Epilepsy
        • Color blindness
      • Color blindnessCandidates must not have any physical or sensory disabilities that may hinder their ability to perform nursing skills.
