  • OVERVIEW

    This programme aims to produce graduates who:

    • Are highly competent clinical psychologists and able to apply their knowledge and provide services in various relevant agencies
    • Are recognized by the Malaysian Allied Health Profession Act 2016
    • Are able to practice as consultant clinical psychologists

    The programme will be conducted at Universiti Sains Malaysia - KL Campus, Wisma Sejarah, Jalan Tun Razak, Kuala Lumpur and/or Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris - Sultan Azlan Shah Campus, Proton City, Tanjung Malim, Perak. Doctoral internship will be held at different locations such as Hospital Universiti Sains Malaysia, Kubang Kerian, Kelantan, UPSI Psychology Clinic or any other locations approved by the USM-UPSI Joint Committee.

  • ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

    1. Master in Psychology (Clinical) USM-UPSI with a minimum CGPA 3.00 out of 4.00.

    Eligible candidates will be offered to enroll in Doctor of Psychology (Clinical Psychology) USM-UPSI with the approval from Panels of Admission Evaluation USM-UPSI. Candidates need to register for the doctorate program within three (3) years after graduation.

    OR

    1. Master in Psychology (Clinical) or equivalent with a minimum CGPA 3.00 out of 4.00 which is accepted by USM and UPSI Senates and fulfill the criteria of Malaysian Qualification Agency - Program Standards for Psychology.

    AND

    Completed the required courses below:

    • Statistics for Clinical Psychologists and Cognitive Neuroscientists; and
    • Intermediate Psychometric; and
    • Protocol Development in Clinical Psychology and Cognitive Neurosciences; and
    • Ethics, Cross-cultural and Professional Issues; and
    • Psychological Intervention 1; and
    • Psychological Intervention 2; and
    • Child and Adult Psychopathology and Psychopharmacology; and
    • Child Psychological Assessment; and
    • Adult Psychological Assessment; and
    • Child Practicum and Seminar; and
    • Adult Practicum and Seminar; and
    • Psychology Research Project
    • Health Promotion and Disease Prevention
    • Rehabilitation Psychology

    • Work as clinical psychologist at various institutions
    • Are recognized by the Malaysian Allied Health Profession Act 2016
    • Are able to continue their study at doctorate level either in the field of Clinical Psychology or Clinical Neuropsychology.

    The programme will be conducted at Universiti Sains Malaysia - KL Campus and/or Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris - Sultan Azlan Shah Campus, Proton City, Tanjung Malim, Perak. Clinical practicum will be held at different locations such as Hospital Universiti Sains Malaysia, Kubang Kerian, Kelantan, UPSI Psychology Clinic or any other locations approved by the USM-UPSI Joint Committee.
