  • OVERVIEW

    The Bachelor of Health Science (Honours) (Medical Radiation) @ Bachelor in Medical Radiation (Honours) (for enrollment from Academic Session 2021/2022 onwards) is a 4-year (8 semesters) full time academic programme which has been offered since academic session 2001/2002 to students with qualification of A-level, STPM, matriculation, diploma in radiography or equivalent. The government of Malaysia has accredited this programme since 2004.

    This programme provides theoretical and practical training experiences, which will allow students to understand, able to explain and utilise ionising and non-ionising radiation in the diagnosis and treatment of patients. The offering of this programme is expected to assist in fulfilling the national requirements for trained personnel in the medical radiation science disciplines. This programme opens up career opportunities in the field of diagnostic radiology, nuclear medicine, radiotherapy and radiation protection which require knowledge and skills in these areas in order to ensure the safety of the graduates, medical and health professionals, patients and members of the general public.

  • OVERVIEW

    The programme provides theoretical and practical in three major fields (clinical, community and food service) that covers medical nutrition therapy using nutrition care process in the prevention and management of diseases to meet the nutritional requirement of individuals. The courses are designed to prepare graduates with sound expertise in dietetics who are able to plan and implement dietary intervention and health promotion programme at local and international levels. This programme opens up career opportunities for our graduates in various clinical and community settings, food services, research institutions, private practices, sports and healthcare industries.

    Clinical training is essential to expose students with the necessary skills needed to be a clinical dietitian and encourage students to work in a team with people from other professions such as doctors, pharmacist, nurses, physiotherapist, speech therapist and many more. Besides that, clinical attachment during the final year of the dietetics programme will expose the students to the clinical settings in the hospital such as the outpatient clinics, inpatient, and critically ill unit.

    The main purpose of the programme is to impart knowledge in general nutrition with the focus on human nutrition and community nutrition that are relevant to the Malaysian context. It aims to produce versatile graduates to fulfil the needs of the discipline, the healthcare profession and the future job market. The programme employs a multidisciplinary approach to teaching and learning, and the school consists of academically qualified people in the fields of nutrition, dietetics, food science, basic sciences, medicine, social sciences, management, and community services. Students are exposed to various aspects of foods, nutrient requirements, dietary intake, assessment of nutritional status, healthy eating and lifelong nutrition. Students will also experience laboratory work in food preparation and food analysis and at the same time, they will be carrying out fieldwork to evaluate nutrition and health status in the community. The final year students will conduct a research project and write a dissertation. The mode of teaching and learning includes lectures, practical, fieldwork, seminars, self-study, e-learning and individual supervision.
