Admission USM - Master of Science (Microelectronic Engineering)

OVERVIEW

In response to numerous requests from industries and addressing the shortage of qualified engineers in IC design, Collaborative Microelectronic Design Excellence Centre (CEDEC) offering a new degree programme leading to the award of Master of Science in Microelectronic Engineering.

Course Structure

First Semester

Core Courses (8 units)

Advanced Analogue Circuit Design
Digital Integrated Circuit Design

Elective Courses (4 units)

Semiconductor Devices and Solid State Technology; or
Advanced Digital Signal and Image Processing

Second Semester

Dissertation (28 units)

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Applicants should possess the following:

A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Mechatronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, Applied Physics or equivalent with minimum CGPA 2.75/4.00
CGPA below the above range, can be considered with additional requirements
Passed interview (applicable for International candidates)

LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS

(Applicable for International Applicants Only)

A minimum score of 40 for TOEFL (Internet-based); or
A minimum of Band 7.5 for TOEFL Essentials (Online); or
A minimum of Band 5 for IELTS; or
A minimum score of 47 for PTE; or
A minimum score of 154 for Cambridge English (CAE/CPE); or
A minimum score of 154 for Linguaskill Online; or
A minimum of Band 3.5 for MUET

Exemption is given to candidate if:

English is the candidate’s mother tongue or National Language; or
Candidate graduated from an Institution of Higher Learning in which the medium of instruction at Bachelor and/or Master degree level is English (statement of proof required)

Full-time: Min 12 months / Max 24 months
