Master of Science (Nuclear Medicine)

OVERVIEW

Master of Science (Nuclear Medicine) by Research Mode is a graduate program designed to train students in the advanced techniques and applications of nuclear medicine in medical diagnostics and therapies. This program focuses on using radioactive materials to diagnose and treat diseases, particularly cancer, heart disease, and neurological disorders. As a research-based program, it allows students to engage in original research within the field, providing them with hands-on experience in cutting-edge technologies.

Students in the Master of Science (Nuclear Medicine) program can focus on a variety of research areas within nuclear medicine, including:

  • Nuclear Medicine Imaging: Researching techniques such as Positron Emission Tomography (PET), Single Photon Emission Computed Tomography (SPECT), and radiopharmaceutical development for imaging organs and tissues in the body.
  • Radiation Therapy: Studying the use of targeted radiation for the treatment of cancer and other diseases, including radiation dosimetry, radiation delivery mechanisms, and improving treatment outcomes.
  • Radiopharmaceuticals: Investigating the development, preparation, and clinical applications of radioactive substances used for diagnosis and therapy, including radiolabeled tracers.
  • Molecular Imaging: Exploring the molecular and cellular processes involved in diseases using advanced nuclear imaging technologies.
  • Clinical Applications of Nuclear Medicine: Research on how nuclear medicine technologies can be used to improve diagnostics and treatment for diseases such as cancer, heart disease, neurological conditions, and metabolic disorders.
  • Safety and Regulatory Issues: Studying the safety protocols for handling radioactive materials, radiation protection, and ensuring regulatory compliance in nuclear medicine practices.
  • Targeted Radiotherapy: Researching advanced techniques in targeted radiation therapy, such as radioimmunotherapy, where radiation is delivered directly to cancer cells via antibodies.
