Master of Science (Pathology)

OVERVIEW

Master of Science (Pathology) by Research Mode is a graduate program designed for students interested in advancing their knowledge and skills in pathology through independent research. This program allows students to explore various aspects of pathology, including disease mechanisms, diagnostics, and laboratory techniques. As a research-based program, it provides the opportunity for students to contribute to the field through original research and develop a deep understanding of pathological processes.

The program offers a variety of research opportunities in different areas of pathology, including:

  • Molecular Pathology: Investigating the genetic, molecular, and cellular mechanisms underlying diseases, with a focus on cancer, genetic disorders, and other pathologies.
  • Clinical Pathology: Researching the laboratory diagnosis of diseases, including blood, urine, and tissue analysis, as well as the development of diagnostic biomarkers.
  • Hematopathology: Studying blood-related diseases, such as leukemias, lymphomas, anemia, and other hematological disorders.
  • Immunopathology: Exploring how immune system dysfunction leads to diseases, including autoimmune diseases, hypersensitivity reactions, and immune-related cancers.
  • Neoplastic Pathology: Research on the cellular and molecular changes in cancers, understanding tumor biology, cancer progression, and therapy resistance.
  • Forensic Pathology: Studying the causes of death in forensic settings, including autopsy techniques, post-mortem investigations, and the role of pathology in legal investigations.
  • Histopathology: Investigating tissue samples to identify abnormal growths or pathological changes, with applications in diagnostics and therapeutic decision-making.
  • Pathogenomics: Examining how pathogens such as bacteria, viruses, and fungi cause disease at the genetic and molecular levels.
  • Pathology of Infectious Diseases: Researching how infectious agents impact human tissues and organs, and the mechanisms by which infections lead to disease.
  • Translational Pathology: Bridging basic research in pathology to clinical applications, such as developing new diagnostic tools and therapeutic strategies.
