MSc Electronic Systems Design Engineering - School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering


OVERVIEW

To further enhance the post graduate programmes, Masters of Science Degree Programmes by Mixed Mode have also been offered.  In Academic Session 2003/2004, an MSc Mixed Mode programme known as Masters in Science (MSc) Electronic Systems Design Engineering has been introduced.  This programme exposes candidates to up-to-date theoretical and practical aspects of Electronic System Design and advanced computing technologies and their applications.  Candidates will also be trained to equip them with the capability of addressing engineering related problems of the industry.

Course Structure

Package of study : 50:50

  1. 50:50 – 20 credit units of courses (12 credit units of core courses and 8 credit units of elective courses) and 20 credit unit of dissertation
  2. 30: 70 – 12 credit units of courses (8 credit units of core courses and 4 credit units of elective courses)  and 28 credit unit of dissertation

Requirement of graduation

  1. Fulfil total minimum credit unit of 40 units
  2. Pass all core and elective courses with at least Grade C+
  • For 50:50 package, 3 core and 2 elective courses (i.e. total of 20 units)
  • For 30:70 package, 2 core and 1 elective courses (i.e. total of 12 units)
  1. Pass the dissertation 
  • For 50:50 package, 20 units of dissertation
  • For 30:70 package, 28 units of dissertation
  1. Obtain at least a CGPA of 3.00
  2. Fulfill the minimum duration of candidature (i.e. 2 semesters)
  3. Obtain a minimum Grade C for LKM100 prior to graduation for international students
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Applicants should possess the following:

A. Bachelor's degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering or related fields

1. CGPA of at least 2.75 / 4.00; or

2. CGPA between 2.50 - 2.74 with the following additional conditions: or

a) Research experience for at least one year; or
b) Work experience in related field for at least one year; or
c) At least one (1) academic publication in the relevant field; or
d) Grade B for major / elective courses; or
e) Grade B+ for final year project

3. CGPA between 2.00 - 2.49 (Bachelor's Degree with Honours) with the following additional conditions: or

a) Research experience for at least five (5) years; or
b) Work experience in related field for at least five (5) years; AND
c) At least one (1) academic publication in the relevant field; or
d) Grade B for major / elective courses; or
e) Grade B+ for final year project

LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS

(Applicable for International Applicants Only)

The minimum score for each programme can be vary from the below list, candidates are required to check for each programme requirements.

  • A minimum of Band 5 for IELTS; or
  • A minimum score of 40 for TOEFL (Internet-based); or
  • A minimum of Band 7.5 for TOEFL Essentials (Online); or
  • A minimum score of 154 for Cambridge English: Advance (CAE)/Proficiency (CPE) /Preliminary (PET) /First (FCE)/ Linguaskill Online min. score 154; or
  • A minimum score of 47 for Pearson Test of English (PTE); or
  • A minimum of Band 107 for CIEP Level (ELS); or
  • A minimum of Band 3.5 for Malaysian University English Test (MUET)

Exemption is given to candidate if:

  • English is the candidate’s mother tongue or National Language; or
  • Candidate graduated from an Institution of Higher Learning in which the medium of instruction at Bachelor and/or Master degree level is English (statement of proof required)
