OVERVIEW

Master of Science (Forensic Science)  by research are offered to produce more forensic professionals specializing in the various fields of forensic science. They also provide opportunities for lifelong learning and assist the efforts to profesionalised experts in forensic science with advance academic degrees in line with the advancement of forensic sciences and technologies as well as meeting elevated standard of forensic science services.

To cater for the needs of the students with different undergraduate background, a wide range of forensic sciences fields including criminology, forensic drug analysis, forensic anthropology, forensic document examination, forensic fire invesitgation, DNA profiling, forensic toxicology, and phyiscal evidence are offered. In general, the study involves literature review, proposal presentation, planning and conducting experimental works, research progress presentation, preparation and submission of research articles, and finally submission of thesis for examination.

PROGRAMME OBJECTIVES

Corresponding to the mission of School of Health Sciences, the Master of Science (Forensic Science)  provide exemplary forensic science research experience with the aims to

  1. nurture intellectual and professional forensic science graduates.
  2. produce forensic science graduates who are responsible and possess high ethical standards.
  3. transform knowledge to develop and sustain social well-being.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Applicants should possess the following:

A. Bachelor's degree in related area

1. CGPA of at least 3.00 / 4.00; or

2. CGPA between 2.75 - 2.99 with the following additional conditions: 

  • Research experience (minimum 6 month); or
  • Grade A- for final year project; AND
  • Subject to additional requirement(s) by the Schoo
LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS

(Applicable for International Applicants Only)

The minimum score for each programme can be vary from the below list, candidates are required to check for each programme requirements.

  • A minimum score of 40 for TOEFL (Internet-based); or
  • A minimum of Band 7.5 for TOEFL Essentials (Online); or
  • A minimum of Band 5 for IELTS; or
  • A minimum score of 47 for PTE; or
  • A minimum score of 154 for Cambridge English (CAE/CPE); or
  • A minimum score of 154 for Linguaskill Online; or
  • A minimum of Band 3.5 for MUET

Exemption is given to candidate if:

  • English is the candidate’s mother tongue or National Language; or
  • Candidate graduated from an Institution of Higher Learning in which the medium of instruction at Bachelor and/or Master degree level is English (statement of proof required)
