    Research Component

    A candidate will do research on a chosen topic with the guidance of a supervisor at the end of which a dissertation must be submitted. The award of the degree is subject to obtaining good passes in the courses taken and the successful completion of the dissertation, which will be examined by internal and external examiners.

  • ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

    Applicants should possess the following:

    A. Bachelor's degree in Mathematics or related area

    1. CGPA of at least 2.75 / 4.00; or

    2. CGPA between 2.50 - 2.74 with the following additional conditions: or

    a) Research experience for at least one year; or
    b) Work experience in related field for at least one year; or
    c) At least one (1) academic publication in the relevant field; or
    d) Grade B for major / elective courses; or
    e) Grade B+ for final year project

    3. CGPA between 2.00 - 2.49 (Bachelor's Degree with Honours) with the following additional conditions: or

    a) Research experience for at least five (5) years; or
    b) Work experience in related field for at least five (5) years; AND
    c) At least one (1) academic publication in the relevant field; or
    d) Grade B for major / elective courses; or
    e) Grade B+ for final year project

    The minimum score for each programme can be vary from the below list, candidates are required to check for each programme requirements.

    • A minimum of Band 5 for IELTS; or
    • A minimum score of 40 for TOEFL (Internet-based); or
    • A minimum of Band 7.5 for TOEFL Essentials (Online); or
    • A minimum score of 154 for Cambridge English: Advance (CAE)/Proficiency (CPE) /Preliminary (PET) /First (FCE)/ Linguaskill Online min. score 154; or
    • A minimum score of 47 for Pearson Test of English (PTE); or
    • A minimum of Band 107 for CIEP Level (ELS); or

  • OVERVIEW

    The programme aims to provide knowledge and skills in radiation physics, protection, and dosimetry. The course is designed to produce graduates in Radiation Science with a strong capacity to work effectively as key members of a collaborative team for radiation protection and safety. Successful graduates can expect to have a career as radiation scientist in academic institutions, research institutes or environmental departments.

    Course Structure

    The programme consists of 40 units of the following four core courses and one compulsory Laboratory work in Semester II.

  • OVERVIEW

    Master of Engineering in Electrical and Microsystems Engineering and Master of Science in Solid State Physics


    The International Master Dual Degree Programme places a strong focus on electronics and semiconductor technology. It provides a solid theoretical background as well as a minimum of 6 months internship in one of our international partner companies (e.g. Osram, Infineon Technologies, Continental Automotive Corporation) in Malaysia or Germany. In addition, it offers you the opportunity to obtain a Master degree from Malaysia (USM Penang) in combination with an accredited European Master degree (M. Eng. in Electrical and Microsystems Engineering) from OTH (Eastern Bavarian University), Regensburg, Germany simultaneously. The course is structured to enable students to work independently, efficiently and responsibly using scientific methods and problem solving techniques. Aside from conveying technical expertise, the course is designed to build personalities and leadership knowledge and skills. Graduates will be equally proficient in performing technical tasks and leadership roles.

    Course Structure

    Lectures in Malaysia or Germany: Min. 24 months (4 semesters) / Max. 60 months (10 semesters)

    Master’s research/thesis in Malaysia or Germany (usually in a company): Min. 6 months (1 semester)

The course is designed to produce graduates in medical physics with a strong capacity to work effectively in operating and maintaining medical equipments. Successful graduates are expected to have a career as medical physicist in hospital, academic institutions or research institutes.

    This programme exposes candidates to up-to-date theoretical and experimental aspects of Solid State Physics. The students will explore the journey of knowledge and practical experience from sand to optical communication system. Candidates will also be trained to equip them with the capability of addressing physicist related problems as engineers in the semiconductor and solid state lighting industry.
