  • OVERVIEW

    AGROBIOLOGY
    Agrobiology is focused on plant diseases and pest infestations of various crops including food crops, industrial crops, feed crops, ornamental crops, oil crops, and fibre crops. The main aim is to develop integrated management strategies to control plant diseases and pest infestations. Various approaches in the agriculture system are explored to ensure optimum and economical plant health and yield. Students are equipped with basic knowledge in multidisciplinary approach in the field of plant pathology, insect and vertebrate pests in agricultural-based industry.

    BIOTECHNOLOGY
    Biotechnology involves the practical application of cells or their components in the manufacturing and service industries. It integrates the knowledge of microbiology, biochemistry, genetics, molecular and structural biology, chemistry and process engineering.

    ENTOMOLOGY AND PARASITOLOGY
    Entomology and Parasitology emphasize on biology of insects and their relationships with the disease parasites or pathogens that they transmit. Students acquire knowledge on the structure and function, life history, ecology and vector and parasite behaviour that will assist in the understanding of disease epidemiology as well as various management strategies. The structure of the programme also emphasizes on the management of pests such as insects, rodents, termites, and cockroaches that are relevant to the pest management industry, especially the application of Integrated Pest Management (IPM). In addition, topics in medical and veterinary parasitology are applied to provide students with knowledge and skills in understanding parasite infection.

    ENVIRONMENTAL BIOLOGY
    Environmental Biology is focused on understanding various concepts of ecology, function, interaction between abiotic and biotic components of various ecosystems. Students acquire knowledge on broad understanding of structure and function of tropical ecosystems, the importance of environmental protection, conservation of natural resources and various methods to manage and conserve natural resources.

  • REQUIREMENTS

    • STPMKPM Matriculation / Foundation Studies (UM/UKM/UiTM)Diploma / Equivalent – A-Level, IB, AUSMAT, SAM, and others
      STPM:

      i. Passed Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) with a minimum CGPA of 2.75

      AND

      ii. Obtained at least a Grade B (CGPA 3.00) in the subject of Biology.

      AND

      iii. Obtained at least a Grade B- (CGPA 2.67) in the following subjects:

      • Physics / Chemistry / Mathematics T

      Note:
      The candidate must not have a visual impairment (color blindness) or any physical disability that may hinder practical work.
      KPM Matriculation / Foundation Studies (UM/UKM/UiTM):

      i. Passed Matriculation (KPM) / Foundation Studies (UM/UKM/UiTM) with a minimum CGPA of 2.75

      AND

      ii. Obtained at least a Grade B (CGPA 3.00) in the subject of Biology.

      AND

      iii. Obtained at least a Grade B- (CGPA 2.67) in the following subjects:

      • Physics / Chemistry / Mathematics

      Note:
      The candidate must not have a visual impairment (color blindness) or any physical disability that may hinder practical work.
      Diploma / Equivalent – A-Level, IB, AUSMAT, SAM, and others:

      Diploma in the fields of Microbiology / Biotechnology / Fisheries / Information Technology / Medicine / Medical Laboratory / Laboratory Technology / Pharmacy / Agriculture / Medical Science with a minimum CGPA of 2.75

      OR

      Passed A-Levels with a minimum score of 10 and obtained at least a Grade B in the subject of Biology.

      AND

      Obtained at least a Grade C in the following subjects:

      • Mathematics / Further Mathematics
      • Chemistry

      OR

      Passed the International Baccalaureate (IB) with a minimum score of 28 and obtained at least a score of 4 at Higher Level (HL) in the following subjects:

      • Biology
      • Chemistry

      AND

      Obtained at least a score of 3 at Standard Level (SL) in the following subjects:

      • Mathematics Analysis and Approaches / Further Mathematics / Physics

      OR

      Passed AUSMAT/SAM with a minimum aggregate score of 68 and obtained at least a Grade C in the following subjects:

      • Biology
      • Chemistry
      • Mathematical Studies

      OR

      Equivalent qualification recognized by Senate of the University.

      Note:

    • STPMMatrikulasi KPM / Asasi UM / Asasi UKM / Asasi UiTMDiploma / Setaraf – A-Level, IB, AUSMAT, SAM dan lain-lain
      STPM:

      i. Lulus Peperiksaan Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) dengan mendapat sekurang-kurangnya PNGK 2.75

      DAN

      ii. Mendapat sekurang-kurangnya Gred B (NGMP 3.00) dalam mata pelajaran Biology.

      DAN

      iii. Mendapat sekurang-kurangnya Gred B- (NGMP 2.67) dalam mata pelajaran berikut:

      • Physics / Chemistry /
      Mathematics T


      Nota:
      Calon tidak mempunyai ketidakupayaan penglihatan (buta warna) dan tidak mempunyai ketidakupayaan fizikal yang menyukarkan kerja-kerja amali.
      Matrikulasi KPM / Asasi UM / Asasi UKM / Asasi UiTM:

      i. Lulus Matrikulasi KPM / Asasi UM / Asasi UKM / Asasi UiTM dengan mendapat sekurang-kurangnya PNGK 2.75

      DAN

      ii. Mendapat sekurang-kurangnya Gred B (3.00) dalam mata pelajaran Biology.

      DAN

      iii. Mendapat sekurang-kurangnya Gred B- (2.67) dalam mata pelajaran berikut:

      • Physics / Chemistry / Mathematics

      Memiliki Diploma dalam bidang Mikrobiologi / Bioteknologi / Perikanan /Teknologi Maklumat / Perubatan / Makmal Perubatan / Teknologi Makmal / Farmasi / Pertanian / Sains Perubatan dengan mendapat sekurang-kurangnya PNGK 2.75

      ATAU

      Lulus A-Level dengan memperolehi minimum skor 10 dan mendapat sekurang-kurangnya Gred B dalam mata pelajaran Biology.

      Dan

      Mendapat sekurang-kurangnya Gred C dalam mata pelajaran berikut:

      • Mathematics / Further Mathematics
      • Chemistry

      ATAU

      Lulus International Baccalaureate (IB) dengan memperolehi minimum skor 28 dan mendapat sekurang-kurangnya skor 4 di peringkat High Level (HL) bagi mata pelajaran berikut:

      • Biology
      • Chemistry

      Dan

      Mendapat sekurang-kurangnya skor 3 di peringkat Standard Level (SL) bagi mata pelajaran berikut:
