  • OVERVIEW

    Geophysics is dedicated to studying the structure and motion of the Earth. Major thrusts in the programme include atmospheric science, environmental geophysics, Oceanography, rocks and minerals such as petroleum and natural gas. It involves the application of physical laws and principles to the study of the Earth and other astronomical bodies. Geophysical studies use physical measurements and mathematical models to explore and analyze the structure and dynamics of the Solid Earth and its liquid content.

  • REQUIREMENTS

    • STPMKPM Matriculation / Foundation Studies (UM/UKM/UiTM)Diploma / Equivalent – A-Level, IB, AUSMAT, SAM, and others
      STPM:

      i. Passed Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) with a minimum CGPA of 2.75

      AND

      ii. Obtained at least a Grade B (CGPA 3.00) in the following subjects:

      • Physics
      • Mathematics T

      AND

      iii. Obtained at least a Grade C at the SPM level in the following subjects:

      • Physics
      • Additional Mathematics
      KPM Matriculation / Foundation Studies (UM/UKM/UiTM):

      i. Passed Matriculation (KPM) / Foundation Studies (UM/UKM/UiTM) with a minimum CGPA of 2.75

      AND

      ii. Obtained at least a Grade B (CGPA 3.00) in the following subjects:

      • Physics / Engineering Physics
      • Mathematics
      • Biology / Chemistry / Computer Science / Programming / Computing / Engineering Chemistry / Basic Engineering / Civil Engineering / Mechanical Engineering / Electrical & Electronics Engineering

      AND

      iii. Obtained at least a Grade C at the SPM level in the following subjects:

      • Physics
      • Additional Mathematics
      Diploma / Equivalent – A-Level, IB, AUSMAT, SAM, and others:
      Diploma in a related field with a minimum CGPA of 2.75

      OR

      Passed A-Levels with a minimum score of 10 and obtained at least a Grade B in the following subjects:

      • Physics
      • Mathematics

      OR

      Passed the International Baccalaureate (IB) with a minimum score of 28 and obtained at least a score of 5 at Higher Level (HL) in the following subjects:

      • Physics
      • Mathematics

      AND

      Obtained at least a score of 5 at Standard Level (SL) in the subject of Further Mathematics

      OR

      Passed AUSMAT/SAM with a minimum aggregate score of 68 and obtained at least a Grade B in the following subjects:

      • Physics
      • Mathematics Studies

      OR

      Equivalent qualification recognized by Senate of the University.

      AND

      Obtained at least a Grade C at the SPM level in the following subjects:

      • Physics
      • Additional Mathematics

       
    • STPMMatrikulasi KPM / Asasi UM / Asasi UKM / Asasi UiTMDiploma / Setaraf – A-Level, IB, AUSMAT, SAM dan lain-lain
      STPM:

      i. Lulus Peperiksaan Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) dengan mendapat sekurang-kurangnya PNGK 2.75

      DAN

      ii. Mendapat sekurang-kurangnya Gred B (NGMP 3.00) dalam mata pelajaran berikut:

      • Physics
      • Mathematics T

      DAN

      iii. Mendapat sekurang-kurangnya Gred C pada peringkat SPM dalam mata pelajaran berikut:

      • Physics
      • Additional Mathematics
      Matrikulasi KPM / Asasi UM / Asasi UKM / Asasi UiTM:

      i. Lulus Matrikulasi KPM / Asasi UM / Asasi UKM / Asasi UiTM dengan mendapat sekurang-kurangnya PNGK 2.75

      DAN

      ii. Mendapat sekurang-kurangnya Gred B (3.00) dalam mata pelajaran berikut:

      • Physics / Engineering Physics
      • Mathematics
      • Biology / Chemistry / Computer Science / Programming / Computing / Engineering Chemistry / Basic Engineering / Civil Engineering / Mechanical Engineering / Electrical & Electronics Engineering

      DAN

      iii. Mendapat sekurang-kurangnya Gred C pada peringkat SPM dalam mata pelajaran berikut:

      • Physics
      • Additional Mathematics
      Diploma / Setaraf – A-Level, IB, AUSMAT, SAM dan lain-lain:

      Memiliki Diploma dalam bidang yang berkaitan dengan mendapat sekurang-kurangnya PNGK 2.75


      ATAU


      Lulus A-Level dengan memperolehi minimum skor 10 dan mendapat sekurang-kurangnya Gred B dalam mata pelajaran berikut:

      • Physics
      • Mathematics


      ATAU


      Lulus International Baccalaureate (IB) dengan memperolehi minimum skor 28 dan mendapat sekurang-kurangnya skor 5 di peringkat High Level (HL) dalam mata pelajaran berikut:

      • Physics
      • Mathematics

      Dan

      Mendapat sekurang-kurangnya skor 5 di peringkat Standard Level (SL) dalam mata pelajaran Further Mathematics


      ATAU


      Lulus AUSMAT/SAM dengan memperolehi minimum agregat 68 dan mendapat sekurang-kurangnya Gred B dalam mata pelajaran berikut:

      • Physics
      • Mathematics Studies


      ATAU


      Mempunyai kelulusan lain yang diiktiraf setaraf dengannya dan diperakukan oleh Senat Universiti.
