  • OVERVIEW

    The program is designed to provide students with a strong foundation in the principles and techniques of acting and directing, as well as a deep understanding of the historical and cultural contexts of theater and film. Students will learn how to analyze texts, create characters, and communicate effectively with audiences through a range of performance styles and techniques.

    In addition to practical training in acting and directing, students will also study the technical aspects of production, such as lighting, sound, and set design. They will learn about the business aspects of the industry, such as marketing, funding, and self-promotion, and will have the opportunity to work on productions both on and off-campus.

    The program is taught by experienced faculty members who are experts in their field, and who provide students with the guidance and support they need to develop their skills and reach their full potential. Students will also have the opportunity to work with visiting artists, who will provide additional training and insight into the industry.

    Upon graduation, students will be well-prepared to pursue careers in acting and directing for stage and screen, as well as related fields such as film and television production, screenwriting, and theater management. They may also choose to further their studies in a related field at the postgraduate level, such as theater or film studies.

  • REQUIREMENTS

    • STPMKPM Matriculation / Foundation Studies (UM/UKM/UiTM)Diploma / Equivalent – A-Level, IB, AUSMAT, SAM, and others
      STPM:

      i. Passed Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia Examination (STPM) with a minimum CGPA of 2.00

      AND

      ii. Obtained at least a Grade C (CGPA 2.00) in any two (2) subjects.

      AND

      iii. Excellent in the interview and talent/skills.

       

      Note:

      • Candidates must not have any visual impairment (color blindness).
      • Candidates must not have any physical disability that hinders practical work.
      • Candidates must not have any visual, hearing, or speech impairment (for the specialization in Acting & Directing [US6212002] only).
      KPM Matriculation / Foundation Studies (UM/UKM/UiTM):

      i. Passed Matriculation (KPM) / Foundation Studies (UM/UKM/UiTM)  with a minimum CGPA of 2.00

      AND

      ii. Obtained at least Grade C (2.00) in any two (2) subjects.

      OR

      ii. Obtained at least Grade C (2.00) in three (3) subjects at the TESL Foundation level at UiTM.

      OR

      ii. Obtained at least Grade C (2.00) in three (3) specialization subjects at the UiTM Law Foundation level.

      AND

      iii. Excellent in the interview and talent/skills.

      Diploma / Equivalent – A-Level, IB, AUSMAT, SAM, and others:

      Diploma in a related field with a minimum CGPA of 2.00

      Passed A-Level with a minimum score of 9 and obtain at least Grade C in any two (2) subjects.

      OR

      Passed International Baccalaureate (IB) with a minimum score of 26 and obtain at least score 4 in any two (2) High Level (HL) subjects and one (1) Standard Level (SL) subject.

      OR

      Passed AUSMAT/SAM with a minimum aggregate of 68 and obtain at least Grade C in any two (2) subjects.

      OR

      Creative Arts Certificate (Fine Arts / Painting / Acting with a good level / honors from USM).

      OR

      Have other qualifications and experience in the field of Fine Arts (Visual Exhibition Activities, Graphic Design, Commercial Artists, Illustrator, Full-time Artist, Set Designer / Interior Design, Craft Artist) or equivalent.

      OR

      Have other qualifications and experience in the field of Theatre Arts or performing arts (TV / Film / Video Production, Stage Management, Full-time Actor, Production House), Directing, Dance, or equivalent.

      OR

      Education Officer Candidates Possess a Basic Teaching Certificate in Art Education and a Special Teaching Certificate in Art Education from Maktab Perguruan Ilmu Khas (MPIK) or have a Special Education Diploma (KDPK) in Fine Arts.

      or

      Have other qualifications and experience in the field of Fine Arts (Visual Exhibition Activities, Graphic Design, Commercial Artists, Illustrator, Full-time Artist) or equivalent.

      or

      Have other qualifications and experience in the field of Theatre Arts or performing arts (TV / Film / Video Production, Stage Management, Full-time Actor, Production House), Directing, Dance, or equivalent.

      OR

      Equivalent qualification recognized by Senate of the University.

      AND

      Excellent in the interview and talent/skills.

      i. Lulus Peperiksaan Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) dengan mendapat sekurang-kurangnya PNGK 2.00

      ii. Mendapat sekurang-kurangnya Gred C (NGMP 2.00) dalam mana-mana dua (2) mata pelajaran.

      DAN

      iii. Cemerlang dalam penilaian temu duga dan uji bakat / kemahiran.

      • Calon tidak mempunyai ketidakupayaan fizikal yang menyukarkan kerja-kerja amali.
