0006 - OFF-SHORE PROGRAMME - International Medical Programme (IMP) - USM-KLE

  • OVERVIEW

    The School of Medical Sciences, Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) introduced its Medical programme in 1979. 30 years later in 2010 has established an offshore campus in Belgaum, Bangalore, India in collaboration with KLE University. USM-KLE International Medical Programme is conducted at the new and sophisticated academic complex situated beside Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College (JNMC). It is equipped with modern lecture halls, laboratories, tutorial rooms and a library. This complex will have its own hospital equipped with 500 beds for training purposes. This program will also make use of neighboring hospitals and clinics that are available. All students will be housed in the hostels in the campus which is fully equipped with facilities such as a recreational stadium, IT, bank and cafeterias. Belgaum is located near Goa and it is also not far away from Pune, Mumbai and Bangalore. It has a moderate climate and is surrounded by agricultural land. Upon completion of their studies, students will be awarded the USM M.D. This is a locally accredited USM Medical Degree program conducted overseas and is customized to the needs of the medical career in Malaysia. Students will be trained by qualified and experienced lecturers and specialists in India.

  • REQUIREMENTS

    • MINIMUM GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
      MINIMUM GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:

      ACADEMIC

      • Completed 12 years of Primary and High School Education and
      • Obtained High School Certificate (eg. A‐Level, HSC, SMU, & Matayom Suksa 6 (Thailand), International Baccalaureate ) or
      • Diploma in Health Sciences

      ENGLISH

      • IELTS/IELTS Online minimum Band 5.5 or
      • TOEFL iBT minimum score of 46 or
      • TOEFL Essentials Online minimum score of 8 or
      • Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE) minimum score of 160 or
      • Cambridge English: Proficiency (CPE) minimum score of 160 or
      • Cambridge English: Linguaskill Online minimum score of 160 or
      • PTE Academic / PTE Academic (Online) minimum score of 51 or
      • ELS Certified Intensive English Programme Level (CIEP Level) 108 or
      • Malaysian University English Test minimum Band 4
      • Candidate from an institution in which the medium of instruction is English

      Without any of the above English proficiency certificates, accepted students will be issued with a conditional offer letter to fulfill the English language requirements.

      INTERVIEW

      Candidates must undergo an interview session before being accepted by the respective faculty

      Obtained High School Certificate Level or its equivalent with minimum entry qualification of CGPA 3.00

      • and Mathematics or Additional Mathematics
      • and another subject

      Note: Grading system is referred to each country academics qualifications
      DIPLOMA / A-LEVEL, IB, AUSMAT, SAM & OTHERS:

      Obtained Diploma in Health Sciences with minimum CGPA of 3.50

      And

      Provided the course is not less than 5 semesters or 2 ½ years in the same accredited institution.

      And

      Obtained High School Certificate Level or its equivalent with minimum entry qualification of CGPA 3.00

      And

      Minimum grade B in:

      • Biology / Equivalent
      • Chemistry
      • Physics
      • English
      • and Mathematics or Additional Mathematics
      • and another subject

      ‘A’ LEVEL CANDIDATES

      Grades BBB, ABC or AAC in 3 subjects i.e.

      • Biology; and
      • Chemistry; and
      • Physics or Mathematics

      NEW ZEALAND UNIVERSITY ENTERANCE, BURSARIES & SCHOLARSHIP EXAMINATION CANDIDATES

      National Certificate of Educational Achievement (NCEA) Level 3 / New Zealand Bursary with a minimum average of 80% in THREE (3) subjects i.e.

      • Biology / Equivalent
      • Chemistry
      • Physics / Mathematics

      AUSTRALIAN HIGH SCHOOL CANDIDATES

      • Monash University Foundation Pre‐ University Program (MUFY) / University of New South Wales (UNSW)

      Foundation / Western Australia Curriculum Council / HSC Sydney Australia / Trinity College Foundation Studies / Australian Universities Foundation Programmes / South Australian Matriculation (SAM) / Victorian Certificate of Education, Australia Year 12 or Australian Matriculation (AUSMAT)

      Aggregate or the equivalent of B in any 3 subjects i.e.

      • Biology; and
      • Chemistry; and
      • Physics or Mathematics

      or

      80% ATAR provided the subjects include

      • Biology
      • Chemistry; and
      • Physics or Mathematics

      INDIAN PRE‐UNIVERSITY CANDIDATES

      Standard XII High Secondary School Certificates (Indian Certificate of Secondary Education ICSE, All India Secondary School Certificate CBSE or Pre‐University Course Exam, Intermediate Course Exam, or any equivalent examinations with:

      Average of 70% in 3 subjects of their Standard XII Examinations

      • Biology / Equivalent; and
      • Chemistry; and
      • Physics / Mathematics

      AND

      Obtain Eligibility Certificate from National Medical Commission India, Pass the *NEET exam

      *NEET – National Eligibility cum Entrance Test

      INTERNATIONAL BACCALAUREATE (IB) DIPLOMA CANDIDATES

      • Submit your IB diploma
      • Minimum overall score 33 points, 2 science subjects (Biology and Chemistry) at Higher Level (HL) and Mathematics at HL and attained a minimum score of 5 each in
      • Biology; and
      • Chemistry; and
      • Mathematics
