  • OVERVIEW

    Specialization : Microbiology, Plant Biology & Animal Biology

    Science Biology programme in the  School of  Biological Sciences, Universiti Sains Malaysi aims to produce graduates with a strong fundamental understanding of biological topics including ecology, evolution, biodiversity, genetics, microbiology as well as basic chemistry, mathematics and biostatistics. The graduates are exposed to technical skills and trained to think critically, while adhering to professional, ethical and responsible conduct in basic scientific research. The graduates are also knowledgeable and well versed in scientific research methods such as experimental design, analysis, synthesis and evaluation of data in biological sciences.

  • REQUIREMENTS

    • MINIMUM GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
      MINIMUM GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:

      ACADEMIC 

      • Completed 12 years of Primary and High School Education and
      • Obtained High School Certificate (eg. A‐Level, HSC, SMU, & Matayom Suksa 6 (Thailand), International Baccalaureate ) or
      • Diploma in related field 

      ENGLISH 

      • IELTS/IELTS Online minimum Band 5.0 or
      • TOEFL iBT minimum score of 40 or
      • TOEFL Essentials Online minimum score of 7.5 or
      • Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE) minimum score of 154 or
      • Cambridge English: Proficiency (CPE) minimum score of 154 or
      • Cambridge English: Linguaskill Online minimum score of 154 or
      • PTE Academic / PTE Academic (Online) minimum score of 47 or
      • ELS Certified Intensive English Programme Level (CIEP Level) 107 or
      • Malaysian University English Test minimum Band 3.5 

      Without any of the above English proficiency certificates, accepted students will be issued with a conditional offer letter to fulfill the English language requirements. 

      Note: Candidates do not have visual impairment (color blind) and do not have physical disability making it difficult for practical work.
    • HIGH SCHOOL CERTIFICATES DIPLOMA / A-LEVEL, IB, AUSMAT,SAM & OTHERS
      HIGH SCHOOL CERTIFICATES :

      Obtained High School Certificate Level or its equivalent with minimum entry qualification of CGPA 2.75

      And

      Minimum grade B in subjects below:

      • Biology

      And

      Minimum grade C in subjects below:

      • Physics / Chemistry / Mathematics

      Note: Grading system is referred to each country academics qualifications
      DIPLOMA / A-LEVEL, IB, AUSMAT,SAM & OTHERS:

      Obtained Diploma in Microbiology / Biotechnology / Marine / Medical Information Technology / Medical Lab / Lab Technology / Pharmacy / Agriculture / Health Sciences with minimum CGPA of 2.75 

      And 

      Provided the course is not less than 5 semesters or 2 ½ years in the same accredited institution.

      And 

      Obtained High School Certificate Level or its equivalent with minimum entry qualification of CGPA 2.75 and minimum grade B in Biology 

      And 

      Minimum grade C in subjects below:

      • Physics / Chemistry / Mathematics

      ‘A’ LEVEL CANDIDATES
      (AQA, Brunei, Cambridge, Edexcel, London, Maldives)

      • ‘O’ Level and ‘A’ Level result slip and certificates
      • Passed ‘A’ Level with minimum score of 10 and minimum grade B in Biology

       And

      • Minimum grade C in subjects below:
        • Chemistry
        • Mathematics

      AUSTRALIAN HIGH SCHOOL CANDIDATES

      Passed SAM / AUSMAT with minimum aggregate of 68 and the equivalent of C in subjects below:

      • Mathematics
      • Biology
      • Chemistry

      INTERNATIONAL BACCALAUREATE (IB) DIPLOMA CANDIDATES

      • Passed IB diploma with 28 points
      • Minimum of 4 score at High Level (HL) in subjects below:
      • Biology
      • Chemistry

      • 3 score at Standard Level (SL) Mathematics / Physics.
