The Quantity Surveying programme in the school of Housing, Building and Planning, Universiti Sains Malaysia was first programme introduced in the academic session 1999/2000. This programme is dynamic and comprehensive due to the exposure and appreciation of other related fields like Project Management, Architecture, Engineering, Planning and Interior Design. This exposure produce graduates equipped with broader knowledge, yielding more confidence and higher awareness of other fields. The aim of the programme is to equip graduates with knowledge that will enable them to pursue professionalism in this discipline and to be a registered quantity surveyor. It also offers an education which is recognised globally. In line with this commitment, the programme has full local recognition status obtained from the Board of Quantity Surveyors Malaysia (BQSM) and accreditation with the prestigious Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), the Pacific Association of Chartered Surveyors (PAQS) and the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB), allowing for global recognition and unlimited opportunities. In the past as well as currently, the programme has accepted students from Mauritius, China and Kazakhstan. Conversely local students are also being employed abroad.
