  • OVERVIEW

    AGROBIOLOGY
    Agrobiology is focused on plant diseases and pest infestations of various crops including food crops, industrial crops, feed crops, ornamental crops, oil crops, and fibre crops. The main aim is to develop integrated management strategies to control plant diseases and pest infestations. Various approaches in the agriculture system are explored to ensure optimum and economical plant health and yield. Students are equipped with basic knowledge in multidisciplinary approach in the field of plant pathology, insect and vertebrate pests in agricultural-based industry.

    BIOTECHNOLOGY
    Biotechnology involves the practical application of cells or their components in the manufacturing and service industries. It integrates the knowledge of microbiology, biochemistry, genetics, molecular and structural biology, chemistry and process engineering.

    ENTOMOLOGY AND PARASITOLOGY
    Entomology and Parasitology emphasize on biology of insects and their relationships with the disease parasites or pathogens that they transmit. Students acquire knowledge on the structure and function, life history, ecology and vector and parasite behaviour that will assist in the understanding of disease epidemiology as well as various management strategies. The structure of the programme also emphasizes on the management of pests such as insects, rodents, termites, and cockroaches that are relevant to the pest management industry, especially the application of Integrated Pest Management (IPM). In addition, topics in medical and veterinary parasitology are applied to provide students with knowledge and skills in understanding parasite infection.

    ENVIRONMENTAL BIOLOGY
    Environmental Biology is focused on understanding various concepts of ecology, function, interaction between abiotic and biotic components of various ecosystems. Students acquire knowledge on broad understanding of structure and function of tropical ecosystems, the importance of environmental protection, conservation of natural resources and various methods to manage and conserve natural resources.

      GENERAL REQUIREMENTS (ENGLISH VERSION):
      • Passed SPM/SPMV or an equivalent qualification with a credit in Bahasa Melayu/Bahasa Malaysia/Bahasa Malaysia (July Paper) and a pass in History.
      • Obtained at least Band 2 in the Malaysian University English Test (MUET) or an equivalent qualification within one (1) year from the registration date.

      Note:

      Passing the History subject at the SPM level has been a requirement since 2013.

      • Lulus SPM/ SPMV/ setaraf dengan mendapat KEPUJIAN dalam mata pelajaran Bahasa Melayu/ Bahasa Malaysia/ Bahasa Malaysia Julai dan lulus dalam mata pelajaran Sejarah
      • Mendapat sekurang-kurangnya Band 2 dalam Malaysian University English Test (MUET) atau setaraf dalam tempoh satu (1) tahun dari tarikh mendaftar

      • Pass the Malaysian Higher School Certificate Examination (STPM) with a minimum CGPA of 2.00.
      • Obtain at least a Grade C (NGMP 2.00) in the following subjects:
        • General Studies (Pengajian Am)
        • Physics
        • Mathematics T / Further Mathematics
        • Chemistry

      OR

      • Obtain at least a CGPA of 2.00 at the Pre-University level.

      AND

      • Have experience as a state or national athlete who has been actively involved for at least three (3) years.
