BACHELOR OF SOCIAL SCIENCE IN ECONOMICS WITH HONOURS

  • OVERVIEW

    This program is offered to produce graduates with expertise in the field of economics and to meet the nation's employment needs in various related areas.
    The program is designed to provide a solid foundation in economic knowledge and theory while enhancing students' critical and analytical skills, aligning with similar programs offered both domestically and internationally.
    The introduction of three new courses—Digital Economics, Global Economics, and Introductory Econometrics—will contribute to the strength of the Economics program. These new courses, which incorporate elements of economic development, social issues, and the global environment, will equip students with the necessary knowledge to develop frameworks for development programs, critically analyse issues, and find solutions to economic and social problems.

  • REQUIREMENTS

    • GENERAL REQUIREMENTS (ENGLISH VERSION)GENERAL REQUIREMENTS (MALAY VERSION)
      GENERAL REQUIREMENTS (ENGLISH VERSION):

      Candidates must passed Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia/Sijil Persekolahan Vokasional Malaysia (SPM/MCE/SPVM) or an equivalent qualification with a Credit in Malay Language/Bahasa Malaysia.

      They must also achieve at least Level 2 (Band 2) in the Malaysian University English Test (MUET) within one (1) year from the date of registration.
      GENERAL REQUIREMENTS (MALAY VERSION):

      Calon-calon mestilah lulus Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia/Sijil Persekolahan Vokasional Malaysia (SPM/MCE/SPVM) atau yang setaraf dengan mendapat Kepujian dalam Bahasa Melayu/Bahasa Malaysia. 

      Mendapat sekurang-kurangnya Tahap 2 (Band 2) dalam Malaysian University English Test (MUET) dalam tempoh satu (1) tahun dari tarikh mendaftar.
    • DIPLOMA / EQUIVALENT CATEGORYSTPM / EQUIVALENT CATEGORYAPEL CATEGORYEXECUTIVE DIPLOMA CATEGORY
      DIPLOMA / EQUIVALENT CATEGORY:

      i. DIPLOMA CANDIDATES
      Diploma from Institusi Pengajian Tinggi Awam (IPTA) or Institusi Pengajian Tinggi Swasta (IPTS) recognized by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA) or equivalent.

      ii. MALAYSIAN VOCATIONAL DIPLOMA (DVM) CANDIDATES
      DVM students whose SVM qualifications meet the equivalence of three (3) SPM credits

      And

      Must be 21 years old or above as of the application closing date.
      STPM / EQUIVALENT CATEGORY:

      i. STP/HSC/STPM CANDIDATES (Year 2002 and Earlier)
      Passed Sijil Tinggi Pelajaran (STP/HSC), Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM), or an equivalent qualification with at least Grade E in General Studies/General Paper and Grade E in any two (2) other subjects.

      ii. STPM CANDIDATES (From 2003 Onwards)
      Passed Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) or an equivalent qualification with at least Grade C in General Studies/General Paper and Grade C in any two (2) other subjects.

      iii. MALAYSIAN HIGHER RELIGIOUS CERTIFICATE (STAM) CANDIDATES
      Passed STAM with a minimum grade of Jayyid (Good).

      iv. MATRICULATION GRADUATES
      All KPM Matriculation/Foundation graduates or equivalent qualifications recognized by MQA

      And

      Achieve at least Grade C (2.00) in any two (2) other subjects.
      APEL CATEGORY:

      Passed MQA APEL T-6 (Aptitude Test and Portfolio Assessment by certified assessors).
      EXECUTIVE DIPLOMA CATEGORY:

      Executive Diploma from Institusi Pengajian Tinggi Awam (IPTA) or Institusi Pengajian Tinggi Swasta (IPTS) recognized by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA)

      And

      Meet the total accumulated credit requirement of 90 units.
    • KATEGORI DIPLOMA / SETARAFKATEGORI STPM / SETARAFKATEGORI APELKATEGORI DIPLOMA EKSEKUTIF
      KATEGORI DIPLOMA / SETARAF:

      i. CALON DIPLOMA
      Diploma dari Institusi Pengajian Tinggi Awam (IPTA) atau Institusi Pengajian Tinggi Swasta (IPTS) yang diiktiraf oleh Agensi Kelayakan Malaysia/Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA) atau setaraf.

      ii. CALON DIPLOMA VOKASIONAL MALAYSIA (DVM)
      Pelajar DVM yang kelayakan SVM memenuhi kesetaraan tiga (3) kredit SPM

      Dan

      Berumur 21 tahun ke atas pada tarikh tutup permohonan.
      KATEGORI STPM / SETARAF:

      i. CALON STP/HSC/STPM (tahun 2002 dan sebelumnya)
      Lulus Sijil Tinggi Pelajaran (STP/HSC), Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) atau setaraf dengan mendapat sekurang-kurangnya Gred E dalam Pengajian Am/Kertas Am dan Gred E dalam mana-mana dua (2) mata pelajaran lain.

      ii. CALON STPM (mulai tahun 2003)
      Lulus Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) atau setaraf dengan mendapat sekurang-kurangnya Gred C dalam Pengajian Am/Kertas Am dan Gred C dalam mana-mana dua (2) mata pelajaran lain.

      iii. CALON SIJIL TINGGI AGAMA MALAYSIA (STAM)
      Lulus STAM dengan mendapat sekurang-kurangnya pangkat Jayyid.

      iv. CALON LEPASAN MATRIKULASI
      Semua lulusan Matrikulasi KPM/Asasi dan yang setara dengannya yang diiktiraf oleh MQA

      Dan

      Mendapat sekurang-kurangnya Gred C (2.00) dalam mana-mana dua (2) mata pelajaran lain.
      KATEGORI APEL:

      Lulus MQA APEL T-6 (ujian Aptitude dan Penilaian Portfolio oleh penilai bertauliah)
      KATEGORI DIPLOMA EKSEKUTIF:

      Diploma Eksekutif daripada Institusi Pengajian Tinggi Awam (IPTA) dan Institut Pengajian Tinggi Swasta (IPTS) yang diiktiraf oleh Agensi Kelayakan Malaysia / Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA)

      Dan

      Memenuhi jumlah kredit terkumpul sebanyak 90 unit
