  • OVERVIEW

    Doctor of Medicine is a 5-year programme based on the integrated system and structured according to a multi-disciplinary approach. The programme divided into two phases which is Phase 1 (preclinical) during Year 1 and 2; and Phase 2 (clinical) during Year 3, 4 and 5. The philosophy of the curriculum model is known as SPICES model. Emphasis is given to the holistic approach to the patient’s medical problem in relation to his/her family and community.

    SPICES is an acronym for Student Oriented, Problem-based learning, Integrated, Community-based, Electives and Spiral & Systematic. This approach ensures that our students receive a holistic education that is not only grounded in the theoretical aspects of medicine but also practical and real-world applications. The SPICES model fosters an environment where students are encouraged to participate in their learning actively, develop critical thinking skills, and engage in lifelong learning. To address the significant and rapid changes in the medical school curriculum, health care and technology advancement, SPICES 2.0 is also used as an educational strategy to nurture future-proof doctors. The letters are used with different meanings to show development.

  • REQUIREMENTS

    • STPMKPM Matriculation / Foundation Studies (UM/UKM/UiTM)Diploma / Equivalent – A-Level, IB, AUSMAT, SAM, and others
      STPM:

      i. Passed Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) with a minimum CGPA of 3.50

      AND

      ii. Obtained at least a Grade B (CGPA 3.00) in the following subjects:

      • Biology
      • Chemistry
      • Physics / Mathematics T

      AND

      iii. Achieved at least Band 3 in the Malaysian University English Test (MUET) or equivalent.

      AND

      iv. Excellent in the interview.
      KPM Matriculation / Foundation Studies (UM/UKM/UiTM):

      i. Passed Matriculation (KPM) / Foundation Studies (UM/UKM/UiTM) with a minimum CGPA of 3.50

      AND

      ii. Obtained at least a Grade B (3.00) in the following subjects:

      • Biology
      • Chemistry
      • Physics / Mathematics

      AND

      iii. Obtained Grade B at the SPM level in five (5) of the following subjects:

      • Biology
      • Physics
      • Chemistry
      • Mathematics / Additional Mathematics
      • Other subjects

      AND

      iv. Achieved at least Band 3 in the Malaysian University English Test (MUET) or equivalent.

      AND

      v. Excellent in the interview.
      Diploma / Equivalent – A-Level, IB, AUSMAT, SAM, and others:

      Degree in Health Sciences / Pure Sciences / Applied Sciences with a minimum CGPA of 3.00


      OR


      Degree in the Arts or Humanities with a minimum CGPA of 3.50

      OR


      Diploma in Health Sciences with a minimum CGPA of 3.50 (out of 4.00)

      And

      The course undertaken must be at least 5 semesters or 2 ½ years at an accredited institution.

      And

      Obtained at least Grade B at the SPM/equivalent level in two (2) of the following subjects:

      • Biology
      • Chemistry
      • Physics

      And

      Obtained at least a Credit in the SPM/equivalent level in three (3) of the following subjects:

      • English
      • Mathematics / Additional Mathematics
      • One (1) other subject

      OR

      General Certificate of Education Advanced Level (GCE 'A' Level) with a minimum grade of BBB, ABC, or AAC in the following subjects:

      • Biology
      • Chemistry
      • Physics / Mathematics

      OR

      International Baccalaureate (IB) with a minimum score of 33 points with THREE (3) subjects: Biology, Chemistry, and Mathematics at High Level (HL), and obtained a minimum score of 5 in each of the following subjects:

      • Biology
      • Chemistry
      • Mathematics

      OR

      Monash University Foundation Pre-University Program (MUFY) / University of New South Wales (UNSW) Foundation / Western Australia Curriculum Council / HSC Sydney Australia / Trinity College Foundation Studies / Australian Universities Foundation Programs / South Australian Matriculation (SAM) / Victorian Certificate of Education, Australia Year 12 or Australian Matriculation (AUSMAT)

      With a minimum aggregate or average of 80% or equivalent to Grade B in any THREE (3) of the following subjects:

      • Biology
      • Chemistry
      • Physics / Mathematics

      Or 80% ATAR for the following subjects:

      • Biology
      • Chemistry
      • Physics / Mathematics

      OR

      Canadian Pre-University (CPU) / Canadian International Matriculation Program (CIMP) / Canadian Grade 12/13 / Ontario Secondary School Diploma Grade 12

      With a minimum average of 80% in THREE (3) of the following subjects:

      • Biology
      • Chemistry
      • Physics / Mathematics

      OR

      Indian Pre-University

      Obtained a qualification certificate from the National Medical Council of India, passed the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET)

      And

      With a minimum average of 70% in THREE (3) of the following subjects:

      • Biology
      • Chemistry
      • Physics / Mathematics

      OR

      National Certificate of Educational Achievement (NCEA) Level 3 / New Zealand Bursary

      With a minimum average of 80% in THREE (3) of the following subjects:

      • Biology
      • Chemistry
      • Physics / Mathematics

      OR

      Any other recognized equivalent qualification

      And

      Achieved at least Band 3 in the Malaysian University English Test (MUET) or equivalent.

      And

      Excellent in the interview.
    • STPMMatrikulasi KPM / Asasi UM / Asasi UKM / Asasi UiTMDiploma / Setaraf – A-Level, IB, AUSMAT, SAM dan lain-lain

      i. Lulus Peperiksaan Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) dengan mendapat sekurang-kurangnya PNGK 3.50

      • Biology
      • Chemistry

      iii. Memperolehi sekurang-kurangnya Tahap 3 (Band 3) dalam MUET atau setaraf.

      iv. Cemerlang dalam penilaian temu duga.
      Matrikulasi KPM / Asasi UM / Asasi UKM / Asasi UiTM:

      i. Lulus Matrikulasi KPM / Asasi UM / Asasi UKM / Asasi UiTM dengan mendapat sekurang-kurangnya PNGK 3.50
